Kiera Penpeci, Psy. D
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Consultant
she/her/hers

Once a motivated shoe store manager, Dr. Kiera Penpeci took her interest in learning and development from her retail days in her early 20s and turned it into a career in organizational development. During that time she thought that with access, tools, motivation, and mentorship, she could help build great workplaces, like the one she was a part of. In her path toward leadership in tech as a Black lesbian woman however, she experienced the systemic barriers to her mobility, and witnessed the few other colleagues from underrepresented groups experiencing the same. While she worked through the hard work of breaking those barriers for herself, she became committed to focusing her work on doing the same for other marginalized people.

Today, Dr. KP helps organizations foster inclusion of employees from all walks of life. Her approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion is creating opportunities through internal and external community building, and using data-driven insights to create interventions that cultivate positive cultural shifts toward unbiased recruitment, promotion practices, and the increased sense of belonging for employees. She is a strong believer that stakeholders from every level of the organization should be brought along on the DEI journey, and she partners with all of them in practicing anti-racism and inclusion.

Dr. KP holds a master’s degree and doctorate in Organizational Leadership Psychology and her area of research is in emotional labor and the sense of belonging. In her work, she emphasizes mental health and uses Organizational Development theory, including Neuroleadership, to create holistic interventions in response to the story the data is telling and in service of the goals of the organization. In her free time, she is having full conversations with her adorable dog, long-distance cycling, and advocating for opportunities for women at the intersection of gender/sexuality and race on the advisory board at Girls in Tech, Boston.

She currently volunteers for Combined Jewish Philanthropy on the Strategic Planning and JLE Committees, as an MBA Advisory Board Member for Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, as an Investment Committee Member for Temple Israel Endowment, and as a Finance Committee Member for Jewish Big Brother Big Sister.

Allison became interested in how individual action could help children when she became a Big Sister in New York in the early 1990s. Spending time with her Little Sister, Angela, opened Allison’s eyes to the plight of inner-city children who have limited family support. Unfortunately,  that program did not include material support nor did it provide counseling. For Allison, among the strengths of the Wily Network program are its reliance on caring adults who guide and support the Scholars and its recognition that students need adequate resources to succeed in school.

A transplant to the Boston area, Austin graduated from Davidson College with a degree in chemistry and applied mathematics. He is a Program Success Manager at Mentor Collective, an education technolgy start-up that provides impact-driven mentoring programs to colleges and universities.
