Building Community

*The Wily Pack

Our community, made up of Scholars, coaches, alums, board members, volunteers, donors, and all of Wily’s supporters, is there to celebrate each Scholar’s successes and stand by them in times of need.

Building Your Pack

Helping students build a lifelong community is at the heart of The Wily Network. When students join Wily, many tell us that they had no idea there were other students with shared experiences anywhere in the city— let alone on their very campus. That’s why working across more than a dozen schools is so transformative: it allows us to connect Scholars with a community of students throughout Greater Boston who understand their stories. Scholars develop a sense of belonging, on campus and beyond, that they continue to carry with them after graduation.

"A part of the college experience that not all of us get to enjoy is just going to do fun stuff with your friends, not really caring how much time passes-just that unadulterated fun. So when we have fun at Community Day or with other Scholars, it just feels really good."
- Wily Alum

Holidays at Wily

Though not every Wily Scholar celebrates Thanksgiving or Christmas, both are times of the year when most students head home for the holiday-and the dorms feel a little colder (literally!) and a lot emptier for those staying behind. With our “Packsgiving” lunch and Christmas overnight, we create a space to spend these days together as a community.

Community Day

At each Community Day, Scholars get to know each other over a different team-building activity. They’ve built towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows, played lawn games and musical chairs, and participated in roundtable discussions. In Spring 2024, Wily Scholars showed off their artistic talent and creativity with a newspaper fashion show.
