After more than a decade of walking alongside Scholars as they build their futures, Wily is stepping into something new. Not a departure—but a deepening.
In the year ahead, we are reimagining what it means to show up for Scholars. We are creating volunteer experiences designed with Scholars at the center—experiences that reflect the strength of this community, the generosity of this network, and the power of relationships that stay.
It creates more space for connection—across Scholars, alums, and those who believe in what is possible. It strengthens the ties already formed and opens the door to new ones. It invites each of us not just to support, but to engage, listen, share, and connect.
Introducing: The Wily Networking Expo

Wily’s Annual Career Fair is becoming The Wily Networking Expo—a conversation-centered gathering designed to help Scholars build networks, explore careers, and grow in confidence.
This is not a room of tables. It is a room of conversations. A place where questions are welcomed. Where stories are shared. Where possibility becomes visible. And where volunteers are not recruiters or representatives, but something far more powerful: Guides. Listeners. Storytellers. Connectors.
A Place for You in the Room
We’ve translated this vision into clear, role-based invitations—ways to say “yes” that feel real, human, and grounded in how people actually connect.
Conversation Circle Facilitator
Open the door to the professional world through dialogue.
You’ll sit with a small group of Scholars and guide conversation around a focused topic—first jobs, identity in the workplace, career paths, AI in your field. This is not a presentation. It’s a conversation.
You might begin with a question. Share something that surprised you. Invite others in. Create a space where voices feel welcome.
What matters most is facilitation, not performance.

Industry Networking Guide
Pull back the curtain on your field. Go from conversation to relationships.
Join others in your general industry—healthcare, technology, finance, media, nonprofit—and engage in open, informal conversations.
What does your work really look like? How does someone get started? What skills actually matter? Move through the room. Start conversations. Make introductions: “You should meet…” “I’d be happy to connect you…”
What matters most is clarity and openness.

Skill Studio Coach
Turn insight into action.
Work one-on-one or in small groups with Scholars seeking practical guidance—résumés, LinkedIn profiles, salary negotiation, interviews, storytelling. Offer feedback. Ask questions. Encourage growth.
Sometimes, a single conversation changes how someone sees themselves.
What matters most is encouragement paired with honesty.

What We Ask of All Volunteers
We are not asking you to recruit. We are asking you to show up as a guide, a listener, a storyteller, or a connector. As someone willing to meet a Scholar where they are and help them take one step forward.
Because most careers do not begin with an application. They begin with a conversation.
General Wily Volunteer Career Supports
Outside of The Wily Networking Expo, Scholars seek career and professional development support year round.
