Allison Hirsch (Board Treasurer)
she/her
she/her
After spending nearly two decades working for an investment bank, Allison retired and turned her attention to non-profit organizations focusing on education and building stronger communities. Since 2014, Allison has consulted with Community Consulting Team for Boston Preparatory Charter School and EV Kids, which has deepened her understanding of the challenges for Boston students. She currently volunteers for Combined Jewish Philanthropy on the Strategic Planning and JLE Committees, as an MBA Advisory Board Member for Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, as an Investment Committee Member for Temple Israel Endowment, and as a Finance Committee Member for Jewish Big Brother Big Sister.
Allison became interested in how individual action could help children when she became a Big Sister in New York in the early 1990s. Spending time with her Little Sister, Angela, opened Allison’s eyes to the plight of inner-city children who have limited family support. Unfortunately, that program did not include material support nor did it provide counseling. For Allison, among the strengths of The Wily Network program are its reliance on caring adults who guide and support the Scholars and its recognition that students need adequate resources to succeed in school.
