The First Wily Career Fair

The first Wily Network Career Fair was a success! Recruiters from 18 different companies spoke to Scholars about their own career paths and opportunities in their field. We saw lots of resumes and job descriptions changing hands.

We are so grateful to CarGurus for hosting us in such a beautiful space!

Scholars made connections with professionals in their own industries, but they also built relationships across fields. We spotted a Mathematics and Computer Science major talking with the community service specialists at Best Buddies, and a student leaning towards Environmental Studies in conversation with the tech experts at CarGurus.

Scholars’ openness to visiting every table led to some unexpected connections. One student reflected, “I actually found out one of the companies I had originally out-ruled because I thought it didn’t fit my area is actually something that I’m super interested in.”

One of the highlights of the Career Fair was seeing an alum come back as a recruiter. Eric, the first ever Scholar, has thrived after college as a teacher at Neighborhood House Charter Schools. We were so lucky to have him return to Wily to speak with current students about his career.

We could never have pulled off such a successful event without the support of our sponsors. Thank you to our Graduate Sponsors, the Ilene Beal Charitable Foundation and CarGurus; our Senior Sponsors, Wellington Management Foundation and Pega; and our Junior Sponsor Reliable Respiratory.

We’ve already spoken to recruiters who are eager to return next year, and a couple have even offered to host us!
